Gary
Depue – Athlete Class of 1982 (nominated
by Jerry Frare)
Gary
was an outstanding three sport athlete for
Homer excelling in Cross Country, Indoor
and Outdoor Track. He helped those teams achieve
two league championship titles as well as a Section
III Class “B” title. Gary finished
6th in the 3200m race at the 1982 state track
meet. He still holds the Homer schools track
records for the 1600m and 3200m races. In May
of 1982 Gary was voted as an Athlete of the Week
by the Syracuse Post Standard.

Ted
Grant – Athletic
Contributor (nominated by Chris Grant and Rich
Cecconi)
Ted
served as the Director of the Homer Recreation
Department during the 1970’s and was instrumental
in beginning the sport of lacrosse in Homer in
1973. He was a consistent supporter of lacrosse
and petitioned the Homer School District to add
lacrosse to the athletic department. Through
Ted’s hard work and dedication to the sport
of lacrosse, Homer has had countless students
excel in youth leagues, high school and the collegiate
routes. Homer considers Ted to be one of the “Fathers
of Homer Lacrosse”. |
Gary
Myers – Coach

Gary
was a junior high social studies teacher for
Homer for 26 years. Throughout those 26 years,
Gary coached football, boys and girls basketball.
He successfully coached the boy’s basketball
teams before wanting to provide the same opportunities
for the girls. He succeeded in having the Homer
School Board add girl’s basketball to the
modified level in 1979. Gary was honored by the
Onondaga High School League and was presented
with the 1987 Central Division Coaches Service
Award. |
Joshua
Ryan – Athlete Class of 1996 (nominated by
John & Beverly Ryan)
Joshua was an outstanding three sport athlete
at Homer excelling in football, basketball and
baseball. He was named the 1996 Athlete of the
Year for Homer. Joshua was selected as a 1st
team defender in football, an exceptional senior
participant in basketball and a Section III All-Star
in baseball. Joshua continued his athletic prowess
at Hobart College where he played basketball
for the Statesmen for five years. |
Bill
Williams – Athlete
Class of 1965 (nominated by Bill Lindberg)
Bill
was an excellent athlete for Homer graduating
in 1965. He participated in football, basketball,
baseball and track. He led the Trojan basketball
team in 1965 to the Southern Counties League
Championship and the Section IV Class “A” Championship.
He was one of the leading scorers and rebounder
that year for Homer. Bill continued his basketball
career at Cortland State where he played for
four years. He later became the varsity basketball
coach at Cortland State where he is also a professor. |
Dennis
Wright – Athlete Class of 1965 & Contributor
(nominated by Greg & Kathy Crawford)
Dennis participated in football and wrestling
for Homer during his high school years. It was
in the area of wrestling where Dennis really
excelled. He has a record of 70 wins and only
16 losses for his high school career. He was
a two-time Southern Counties League Champion
and a two-time Section IV Champion. In 1965,
Dennis placed second at the New York State Championship.
Dennis continued his wrestling career at Cornell
University where he wrestled for four years.
Dennis continues to give back to Homer as he
is actively involved with the wrestling program
and is constantly volunteering his time to assist
the varsity, modified and youth wrestling programs
in Homer. |
